MY Top Five Sources of News and Information (1)

1. AP News

Associated Press (AP) News tends to be my first source for information when I search for political, U.S., or World news. I use this source due to its independence from either political party. This source is unaffiliated and focuses on sharing news stories rather than adding turmoil to already sensitive events. This source is my go-to recommendation for news of any kind, but mainly political and U.S.

2. The Hollywood Reporter

My second news source is The Hollywood Reporter. I use this source for all my film industry related information. As an aspiring filmmaker and general lover of cinema, I like to stay updated on industry news. I would recommend this news source to anyone interested in information on the industry because of their broad areas of coverage. They cover film, music, award shows, and lifestyle news. In addition, they also cover some U.S. news, usually pertaining to areas like L.A.

3. Impact on Instagram

My third source of news is the instagram profile Impact. They cover societal and cultural news. I often open instagram multiple times a day, leading to this source being more convenient than others. While I do rely on the convenience of this source, their news is also accurate and posted in an "attractive way". I think sources like this grab Gen-Z attention and make it more suitable for understanding. While this source typically leans left, many of its posts aren't political. Impact also explores and reports minority representation in our entertainment industry today, which I am especially attracted to due to my interest in equity across our industry.

4. Clemmons Courier

My next source of information is exclusive to my hometown Clemmons, North Carolina. I use this source, especially now that I live away from home, to stay up to date on activities in my hometown. In more general terms, I recommend all students that live away from home follow their hometown news outlet to stay informed. I personally lean towards this source because it is local, with the building is under five minutes away from my house. I also know a few students who graduated from my high school who work and intern at the Clemmons Courier.

5. Apple News+

My final source of information is Apple News+. I don't particularly go directly to this source for my news; however, Apple News notifications often pop up on my phone, giving me the opportunity to read news stories. Most of this news is seemingly random and not typically what I chose to stay informed on, this source does allow me easy access to news stories that stray away from politics. Considering this source is also built into all Apple phones, I would suggest students not so eager to search sites like AP News and
New York Times to scroll through the app
and take note of some articles.
